POTATO SNACK ALOO KI TIKI- MAKE IT YOUR WAY


Aloo Tikki is one of the most popular street foods all over North India, also one of the oldest snack of India.The majority of Indian snack and appetizers are based on potatoes,combined with different spices. Aloo ki tiki can be customized according to the individual taste.

Aloo ki tiki is basically an North Indian snack made of boiled potatoes , onions and various spices,where “Aloo” means “Potato” and the word: tiki” means a “small cutlet”. Aloo ki tiki is a famous snack both in India and in Pakistan. In Pakistan it is made very often during Ramadan time while opening the fasts and if tar.
In India, aloo ki tiki is especially found in Mumbai and it is served with a spicy curry and various other chutneys.it is also known as”ragda pattice”.also it has been the favorite snack pf the British.

so, now with all these information about aloo ki tikki lets start how to make this favorite snack of north in our home…:)

Preparation time: 30 mins
Serves       : 5

INGREDIENTS:

    • 3 medium sized potatoes, 300 grams
    • ½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder or 1 to 2 green chilies, finely chopped
    • ½ tsp coriander powder/dhania powder
    • ½ tsp cumin powder/jeera
    • ¼ tsp dry ginger powder/saunth or ¼ tsp minced ginger
    • ¼ tsp chaat masala powder
    • 5 to 2 tbsp corn starch or rice flour or arrowroot flour, or add as required
    • 2 to 3 tsp chopped coriander leaves/dhania
    • 2 tbsp oil for frying the tikkis or as required
    • salt as required

    PROCEDURE:
    • Pressure cook the potatoes till they are completely cooked.(make sure it is completely cooked)
    • Chop or mash it with a potato masher. And then make the mashed potatoes to cool completely.
    • Now, add the spice powders,salt,corn starch and coriander leaves, and mix them well.

    • Make small balls from the dough or make a medium shaped patties.(Apply some oil to our palm so that the dough doesn’t stick to the palm)
    • In a tava,heat 2 tbsp oil. Gently place the aloo ki tiki on the tava once the oil is heated and fry them.
    • When one side of the tiki becomes golden and crisp,turn over and fry the other side.
    •  Cook the tiki until it becomes golden color and crisp evenly.
    • Once done,drain the aloo ki tiki on a paper towel to remove oil.
    FInally your yummy aloo culltet is ready :) Have them with sauce or home made chuteneys
